Trash & Recycling

Trash collection schedules may be affected by the following holidays:
New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Poor weather conditions may also cause delays in collection. 

Dumpster Collection: $140.00

GENERAL GUIDELINES:
Trash should be placed at the curb before 8:00 am on collection days.
All trash should be placed inside appropriate trash cans. Plastic bags are NOT allowed outside the container.

Residential trash cans must not exceed 33 gallons and must have a lid.
For cans larger than 33 gallons, trash must be bagged and sealed.
Note: The Town does not provide trash cans.

Each residence is limited to a maximum of three trash cans.
Brush must not be placed with regular household trash. Residents must schedule a Brush & Miscellaneous Pickup for proper disposal.

For large items such as furniture or appliances, residents must contact the Town Office at (804) 443-3336 to schedule a pickup.

The Town reserves the right to refuse collection of any item deemed inappropriate for household trash collection.

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to:
Brush, wood and metal
Paints and hazardous substances, including insecticides
Building materials such as lumber, metal, blocks, concrete, gravel, soil, drywall, etc.
Bulk items (e.g., appliances, furniture, mattresses)
Tires, automotive batteries and parts
Human or animal waste
Ammunition
Plate Glass or syringes, unless placed inside a protective container.

Residential Recycling: Collected every Thursday, starting at 8:00 am.
Recycling bins are provided by the Town at no cost.
Only one bin per household.  

Plastics: Only No. 1 and No. 2 containers used for food, beverages, and cleaning products.
Cardboard: Corrugated cardboard, waxed cardboard, and egg cartons.
Glass: Glass bottles and jars of all colors.
Metal: Food and beverage cans, aluminum cans. Pie pans and aluminum foil are accepted if they are clean and free of food residue.
Paper: Envelopes, mail, newspapers (including ad inserts), computer and office paper, magazines, catalogs, brown paper bags, and phone books. 

IMPORTANT REMINDER
Food waste and cigarette butts should never be placed in recycling bins. Any recycling containing these items will not be collected. Please ensure all recyclable materials are clean and properly sorted to avoid contamination.

RECYCLING
Cardboard Recycling for Businesses: Collected on Tuesdays, starting at 7:00 am.

Residents may request collection of brush or miscellaneous items by contacting the Town Office at (804) 443-3336 to schedule a pickup.
Fees are as follows:
Half Load: $25.00
Full Load: $50.00
