The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), in partnership with Essex County and the Town of Tappahannock is holding a public information meeting to share potential improvements proposed for Round 7 of VDOT’s SMART Scale program for Route 17 (Church Lane), Route 360 (Queen Street) between Wright Street and Marsh Street, primarily focusing on reducing the number of lanes on Church Lane from four (4) to two (2) with a two way left turn lane in between the north and south bound lanes, removing the traffic signal at Prince St. and various intersection improvements along this same stretch.

Review proposed improvements at the public meeting, or at the Town of Tappahannock’s Town Hall located at 915 S Church Ln. Tappahannock, VA 22560. Please call ahead to ensure the availability of appropriate staff to answer your questions.
