The Tappahannock Police Department is accepting applications for a certified police officer.

Applicants must be currently certified by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services as a Law Enforcement Officer, in good standing.

Salary will be determined by experience of the candidate.

The Tappahannock Police Department is accredited by the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission.


Applicants must meet the following minimum standards:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must possess a current valid Virginia Operator's License
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Be of sound moral character

  • Written Examination
  • Oral Interview
  • Background Investigation
  • Conditional Offer of Employment
  • Drug Screening
  • Final Appointment from the Chief
