Description - The successful candidate will perform a variety of skilled manual labor under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. Duties include performing hands-on care and maintenance of the town grounds and recreation areas, assisting in repairs and maintenance of town buildings and equipment, park equipment, parking lots, fences, custodial duties as assigned, refuse/debris collection and similar tasks. Knowledge about lawn care equipment maintenance and operations is preferred, but not required. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while performing physically demanding work. Must be able to regularly move/lift 50 pounds and occasionally move/lift 100 pounds. Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. Evening and weekend availability required on as needed basis. Successful completion of pre-employment testing and background screening is a must.
Salary -Starting pay is between $12-13.50 an hour DOQ, working 40 hours a week on average.

Description - Answers phones and provides information to citizens by telephone and in person at the front counter, takes payments for utilities, personal property, real estate, dog tags, business licenses, meals and lodging taxes, assists the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer with maintaining utility accounts, opening new accounts and finalizes when accounts are closed, assists the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer in the collection of daily receivables and reconciles to the general ledger, processes all delinquent debits as received from the collection company, keeps and records sold cemetery deeds and internments at Essex Cemetery, opens, sorts, and distributes mail and prepares mailings for the Town as needed, performs other duties as assigned.
Salary -Starting pay is between $14-$16 an hour DOQ, working 16-24 hours a week on average.
